True this has annoyed me a couple of times... but shouldn't we just stay alive instead of blaming the henchies? I have been rezed when the battle lasted long with only henchies, but i doesn t happen often.

I blame henchies... not for me dying but being so stupid not to res. I have had then stuck/wandered off by themselves when I died and no res for me. I had to restart. Anet needs to install a restart location function in form of resing at the portal or entrance, but no reset of monsters... and you can proceed on from there.

Had one time we were almost at Augury Rock. We had activated the pedestal nearby just before the Hydra boss and entourage chasing us did us in. Unfortunately, we didn't notice that Alesia had clipped into the desert floor, well beyond attack range or rez range. So we're stuck a heartbeat from Augury Rock...and have to restart.

What's your route to augury? Because I usually go from Oasis --> Augury and the biggest threat there is the jade scarabs. Once you're past that all you have to fight is minotaurs and rockshot devourers.
As to the OP, I'm kind of wondering about your situation there. It looks like you're in Ascalon in post searing, you're level 13, and you're henching it. You have 60% DP, and having problems with your hench? If you ask me, you're having problems with your character. I mainly just say that because you tell us you died outside of the aggro ring, yet that isn't possible unless you let devourers creep near you, and attack you for a long time. See, henchmen WILL attack something, but they won't attack something until you give them a target, or the monster walks within a certain radius, or your henchmen are attacked. So, unless you go off on your own and leave the game going, I don't see how you could die and have that kind of situation.
Another thing you could do, is work out your strategy. If you're a level 13 monk in post searing ascalon, and you have 60 DP, you're not doing something right. What you should do, is attack something(once is enough) and then back off of it. monk wands give you range, so you don't have to get close, and it will tell your henchmen what you want to attack. Also, since you have Reyna and Orion in your party, you can actually hang back about 2 aggro rings from monsters and heal those two and they can take care of anything, because Stefan will heal himself, and keep monsters far from you.
Another thing you can do is realise that Ascalon isn't that big of a place and just start over. If you're exploring ascalon it's either for: Quests, or self improvement. Both can wait for you to return to the battlefield when your DP is more ready for it.

You are deviating from the topic, it doesnt matter if my monk is an ascended monk with 105/55 build and still died against level 3 critter in old ascalon. What I want to point out is there should be a way to prevent henchmen from ruining your game.
Being able to continue playing after dieing in Mineral Spring fighting Dark Titans or got owned by Charr in Ascalon, is the objective.

I almost ran into this problem last night in mineral springs.
It got down to Alesia and Reyna against a titan heart and a dark, something like that.
Anyways, both sides were doing not enough damage to kill anything. I was sitting there hoping one would run out of energy or something. Eventually, Alesia finally died. Phew.

Well I've often found that Henchies have saved my behind in some dire situations... seriously! Although henchies can never make up for a skilled human player and have a lack of focus, they are often more predictable and sometimes more reliable than another human player! Best of all - they DONT QUIT half way through a mission, like so many human players do!
My one major frustration with them, is that if you die and the rest of the henchies are still fighting, they totally lose the plot - each hench just attacks whoever they feel like and dont listen to any player commands.
I agree that something like a "forced suicide" option for single players using henchies is needed. But I think what could rather be more useful is giving the 'dead player' some directional control over the remaining henchies - they run/attack where you click - that way you can still get them to properly focus their attacks (and perhaps even pull through the battle), or run them into a suicide situation so you can all respawn.
